1. What is Photosynthesis?

In the word photosynthesis, “photo” which means light, “synthesis” means putting together. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make their own food. Plants use light energy from the sun to make sugar and oxygen gas from carbon dioxide and water.

In reality, photosynthesis consists of a series of chemical reactions, with each reaction being catalyzed by a specific enzyme. Photosynthesis is important because it provides two main things: food and oxygen. In this article, it not only explains the process of photosynthesis, but also shows the photosynthesis flowchart created in Edraw Max.

2. What is Needed for Photosynthesis?

There are several components to generate photosynthesis:

  • carbon dioxide: Carbon dioxide from the air passes through small holes in the leaves;
  • Water: water is taken by toots and passes vessels in the stem, to the leaves of the plants
  • Sunlight: Sunlight is absorbed in the leaves.

Photosynthesis is the process from which green plants create energy from sunlight. Plus, it is the way for plants to oxygen and carbohydrates.

3. What Happens During the Process of Photosynthesis?

There are 2 stages in the photosynthesis: light reactions and carbon fixation.

(1). Photosynthesis Light Reaction

ADP + NADP + H2O → ATP +NADPH + H ion + O2

The reason why this stage is called “Light Reaction” is because light plays a big part of the reaction, enzymes are also required to catalyse them.

(2). Photosynthesis Dark Reaction

ATP + NADPH + CO2 → ADP + NADP + glucose

Photosynthesis dark reaction, also called carbon fixation, is responsible for balancing oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

4. What Does Photosynthesis Generate?

Photosynthesis provides two main things: food and oxygen.Plants produce glucose, and some of the glucose is stored in roots and fruits. Apples, carrots and potatoes are examples why we need them to provide energy for us. During photosynthesis, oxygen is produced and released into the atmosphere.

Besides, photosynthesis is so important to life that almost all living organisms cannot survive without it. All of our energy for growth and development comes from plants and animals. Animals get energy from eating plants. Plants get energy from sugar made during photosynthesis.

5. Wrapping up
