Although few people utilize a Phone Line Network Layout in their homes these days, it was one of the first methods of connecting many devices at home. The Home Phone Networking Alliance established Phoneline Networking, commonly known as HomePNA (HPNA). Two types of network cards are required for these connections: one links the local devices over the phone cabling, and the other connects the local devices over the internet. A modem for WAN connectivity is included in the other. The PCs could share a printer and a dial-up Internet connection once they were connected.
