This biology poster is about James Prescott. James Prescott Joule born in Salford, Lancashire, Joule F was an English scientist, mathematician, and brewer. Joule investigated the nature of heat and found a link between it and mechanical labor (see energy). This led to the formulation of the first law of thermodynamics, which was based on the idea of conservation of energy. The joule, a SI-derived unit of energy, is named after him. He collaborated with Lord Kelvin to create the Kelvin scale, which is an absolute thermodynamic temperature scale. Joule also studied magnetostriction and discovered the link between current through a resistor and heat dissipation, which is known as Joule's first law. His energy transformation experiments were fascinating.
