The program evaluation and review technique, or PERT, is an acronym for program evaluation and review method. It shows the timeline of a project and breaks down specific tasks. A PERT chart assists a project manager in analyzing the activities of a project and estimating the amount of time necessary to finish each activity in the project. Using this data, the project manager may calculate the shortest amount of time needed to finish the entire project.
