The following revolution diagram illustrates multiple industrial revolutions, and the fourth one is about robotics and artificial intelligence. As we see from the productivity and principles of the scientific management axis, the first industrial revolution happened after introducing mechanical production facilities with the help of water and steam power. The second industrial revolution happened after introducing a division of labor and mass production with the help of electrical energy. The third industrial revolution happened in 1969 when everyone started using electronics and IT systems that further automated production. As per the following graph, we are in the fourth revolution where the entire world is connected digitally.
