Not only may genograms provide useful information about your client, but they can also reveal a family history of mental illness, which can help you narrow down probable diagnoses. A genogram can also be used to track development during family therapy. Completing genograms at several intervals throughout therapy may assist you and your clients in determining when and where connections have improved.
