Flowcharts use special shapes to represent different types of actions or steps in a process. The basic flowchart symbols are Start/End Symbol: the terminator symbol marks the starting or ending point of the process, Multiple Document Symbols: Represents multiple documents in the process, Manual Input Symbol, Collate Symbol, Manual Loop Symbol, Data Storage or Stored Data Symbol, Display Symbol. It should be noted here that a flowchart is a picture of the separate steps of a process in sequential order. It is a generic tool that can be adapted for a wide variety of purposes and can be used to describe various processes, such as a manufacturing process, an administrative or service process, or a project plan.
