Rather than curtained-off treatment bays, private rooms are used in this Emergency Room Floor Plan. Treatment rooms are frequently organized in modular groups or pods. The modular design allows hospitals to staff and operate the emergency department in response to daily or seasonal fluctuations inpatient census. Where possible, special populations, such as pediatric and behavioral health patients, are provided with dedicated areas highlighted in the Emergency Room Floor Plan to manage their needs more efficiently. Waiting rooms in the ED provide a comfortable environment for patients to wait for test results, freeing up treatment spaces for other patients.
