A business process flow diagram depicts a directed flow of activities specified using a subset of Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN). The new diagram editor, which is now recognized as the most preferred tool for creating graphical artifacts, can be used to create business process diagrams. The internal processes within one organizational unit or business entity are depicted in a Business Process Flow Diagram. These are referred to as workflow processes at times. They are referred to as service orchestration in the context of web services. If swimlane notation is used, then the process is assumed to be contained within a single pool, which is not depicted in the diagram. Simple techniques can have multiple lanes to represent roles or internal participants.
