During that time, the funder or CEO can usually handle multiple tasks, oversee every aspect of the operation, and demand that all subordinates report to him in order to maximise efficiency. A flatter organisational structure allows employees to make decisions based on their expertise, experience, and the strength of their ideas, rather than their hierarchical position.
