A Venn diagram which contrasts and compares two (or more) ideas is a Compare and Contrast Venn diagram. Overlapping circles represent how ideas are similar (the inner circle) and different (the outer circle) (the outer circles). It is used following reading a text(s) in which two (or more) ideas are compared and contrasted. This strategy assists students in distinguishing similarities and differences between pictures. First, draw two large circles when using a Compare and Contrast Venn diagram to write a compare and contrast essay. These two circles should be overlapping. Give each process a title that represents the idea you're comparing. Write everything that the two concepts, people, or objects have in common in the overlapping area.
