A cubicle office is a partially enclosed office workspace separated from neighboring workspaces by 5–6 foot (1.5–1.8 m) tall partitions. Its purpose is to shield office workers and managers from the sights and sounds of an open workspace, allowing them to focus with fewer distractions. Cubicle offices are made up of modular elements such as walls, work surfaces, overhead bins, drawers, and shelving that can be designed to meet the user's needs. Although some cubicles allow configuration changes to be performed by users without specific training, installation is typically performed by trained personnel.
