The drain-waste-vent (DWV) system is used to drain water and waste from the building to a local sewer or septic tank, while the drain-water-vent (DWV) plumbing plan brings hot and cold water into the home. The drain water vent plumbing plan, also known as the sanitary system, includes all of your home's plumbing except the water supply system. Drainpipes drain and vents are all included. When wastewater enters the drain system, it must pass through the drain trap, which is a U- or P-shaped piece of pipe that creates a water seal to keep sewer gases out of the home. A goosenecked P-trap should be installed on every drain in your home.
