This Interrelationship Matrix organizes the pairwise connections between a collection of different objects. Association and generalization are frequently used to describe the relationship between other objects or model elements. The term "association" refers to a semantic relationship between two classes. "Generalization" refers to a relationship between a more general class (the parent) and a more specific class (the child) that is fully consistent with the first class (i.e., it has all of the first class's attributes and relationships) and adds new information. The representation of relationships as a matrix enables the efficient application of matrix calculus for the frequent solution of specific problems.
