This curriculum mapping diagram depicts the process of indexing or diagramming a curriculum to identify and address academic gaps, redundancies, and misalignments to improve the overall coherence and, by extension, the effectiveness of a course of study (a curriculum, in a sense that educators typically use the term, encompasses everything that teachers teach to students in a school or course, including the instructional materials and techniques they use). Educators used to create curriculum maps on paper and poster boards before computers and the internet; today, educators are far more likely to use spreadsheets, software programs, and online services dedicated to curriculum mapping.
