Meanwhile, in the 1980s, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) co-founds Gray Matter Technologies with his colleague and friend Elliott Schwartz (Adam Godley). They collaborated in college and founded the company after finishing their thesis. Gretchen (Jessica Hecht), Walter's ex-girlfriend, later joins them.
