This diagram of Enterprise Architecture Layers depicts four distinct architectural layers. According to this framework, BA is the true strategic component of EA and is called to play a central role in a program as complex as industrialization and standardization of statistical information production, as illustrated in the vision of the European Statistical System (2009). One of the most significant barriers to such an ambitious modernization process is that Statistical Institutes/Organisations are currently characterized by multiple organizational models (concerning financial, technological, regulatory sectors, etc.). Using disparate vocabularies and terminologies can sometimes produce contradictory descriptions of the same entities.
