This Revised Interaction Overview Diagram is one of fourteen Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagram types that can depict a control flow with nodes containing interaction diagrams. The interaction overview diagram and the activity diagram show a sequence of activities. The difference is that each activity is depicted as a frame that can contain a nested interaction diagram in an interaction overview. As a result, the interaction overview diagram can deconstruct a complex scenario that would otherwise necessitate multiple if-then-else paths to be illustrated as a single sequence diagram.
