The plant life cycle is a popular chart to use in the classroom. It can be used to help students understand how plants grow, mature, reproduce, and die. The plant life cycle begins with germination when seeds are planted and begin to grow. This process can last anywhere from a few days to several months. The diagram above shows the life cycle of a plant. The germination represents the start of a new season, which is also called a growth phase. During this phase, the plant makes energy reserves and grows new leaves. Furthermore, the growth represents a reproductive stage, in which seeds are produced and then fall to the ground, where they can germinate and grow into new plants. Lastly, flowering represents the end of a season, which is also called a dormancy period. During this phase, the plant stops making new energy reserves and goes into a state of rest.
