Project managers can benefit from using a responsibility assignment matrix (RAM), also called a RACI chart or RACI matrix, to outline the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in a project. Each member of the team has a letter in the acronym RACI, which stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. Everyone involved in a project should refer back to the RAM created at the outset of the project to remind themselves of their roles and responsibilities at all times. A RACI matrix clarifies for everyone involved who should do what and how results should be evaluated.
