The Angular JavaScript framework serves as the basis for the Alfresco Docs Architecture. These ADF parts aren't connected to the ACS and APS backend services via direct communication. One should be aware of the intervening layers before coding. The ADF components communicate with the ADF services, which then communicate with the Alfresco JS API, making calls to ACS and APS via their respective ReST APIs. If you can't find an ADF component that does what you need, you can still use the ADF services and the Alfresco JS API directly in your application. You'll likely call on the ADF services quite often as you develop your app to retrieve various nodes.
