A state machine is outlined in this process state chart for Technical Design diagrams. A state machine is a machine that specifies the states through which an object transitions in response to either internal or external stimuli. The next chapter will cover Activity Diagrams, a subset of State Charts. The lifecycle of an object can be represented by a State chart diagram, as its various states are clearly defined. The name of the graph itself elucidates the diagram's function and other pertinent information. It represents the different operational states of a system's components. Each system's object or part has its unique set of states.
