The business process flow diagram is an old standby among the BPM community's graphical tools. The reason for this is straightforward: when done properly, it is easy to understand and implement across all levels of an organization. This is a challenging task. But, it takes a lot of time and skill to design a workable business process flow diagram that can be used for analysis, mapping, and optimization. An artifact of this scanning process is the business process flow diagram. This distinction between a business process flow diagram and the process model often leads to misunderstandings among experts.
