Dream Classroom Layout

This classroom is designed for a Kindergarten age group to 1st grade. In my design I have an area where there will be carpet time for the whole class to work on things and address different things first thing in the morning and periodically throughout the day. I also have an area where there are tables and chairs setup for arts and crafts in the back of the room by the carpet. This will also be used throughout the day for different activities like for my diverse learners they will be able to use this area to work in small groups as well. I have a shelf that would contain different materials that the students can use rather it is audio or hands on they can find their materials there. Once you come onto the brown flooring I have a coat rake that is made at children friendly height level. I also have a three seater couch and rug where students who are having a rough day can go and just relax or take a moment to themselves to regroup. In the corner is a table with four chairs and I can work with a small group of students or individually and still be able to keep a close eye on the class while working. On the wall I have my fire escape directions and a fire extinguisher. My projector hangs from the ceiling of the front of the classroom where my desk is located, some tables (desk) with four seats and some with six seats. My desk sits right off to the side facing the children so I can observe them while at my desk and can have a full glimpse of the classroom wherever the children are in the class. I want each student to have that sense of independence while in my classroom. I want all furniture and any other items to be in reach so they can use and do things on their own as long as it is safe. Using the Montessori method the children in class are able to have peer to peer learning and play time as well as do things on their own.
