A work breakdown structure (WBS) is a visual, hierarchical and deliverable-oriented deconstruction of a project. Here is a sample which depicts a jumping game project. It begins with the identification of the project's deliverables, such as starting the project, coming up with game ideas, planning how the game will work etc.. These deliverables are then divided into smaller and more specific tasks that contribute to the overall success of the project. It is a helpful diagram for project managers because it allows them to break down their project scope and visualize all the tasks required to complete their projects.
